Environmental efficiency
GMP environmental approach
- Acting as an ecological partner for our customers
- Adopting an eco-responsible approach in our day-to-day activities
- Achieving carbon neutrality by 2035
GMP is daily focused on sustainable development and act on various ‘green’ actions:
- setting up water drainage infrastructure to treat rainwater before being discharged into the sea
- replacement of the existing lightings on terminals with LEDs
- introduction of new used oil recovery systems to reduce the risk of pollution
- installation of photovoltaic equipment to power our facilities
- ongoing research and testing of biofuels for HGVs and passenger cars, to optimize combustion and reduce carbon emissions
Carbon footprint assesment 2023
Thanks to the GCI (Global Climate Initiative) platform, GMP is carrying out its carbon assessment, and pilots, reduces and achieves its environmental objectives in compliance with its decarbonization policy.
As an example, the carbon weight of a complete container journey (inbound and outbound) within GMP terminals is reduced to:
6,7kg/CO2 for a container
8,75kg/CO2 for a reefer container
Ongoing projects
Programming electrification works on all terminal quays.
Consider obtaining a certification proving the carbon impact reduction of GMP’s port handling activities.
